Buffy is frustrated after finding out about Spike's love for her and worried that she will drive away anyone good who loves her, Xander cheers her up.
Joyce is going on a date and Buffy declines to give her any advice. Anya has been buying stocks and shares on-line, and making a profit. There is a stranger in town looking for "true love", known as Warren. At the Spring Break party Buffy meets Ben, who gives her his phone number, and Spike, who she tells to go away.
The stranger, April, arrives looking for Warren who runs away when he sees her. When Spike comes on to her, she throws him through the window and when Buffy tries to talk to her about it she throws Buffy across the room.
Buffy goes home to rescue Giles who is baby sitting Dawn. The gang suspect that April is a robot built by Warren, Xander gets carried away with his sexbot concept. Buffy telephones Ben, just as he is transforming from being Glory, to ask him if he wants to go for a coffee.
Spike goes to the magic shop, but Giles throws him out. While Buffy is talking to Warren about his robot, April attacks his girlfriend. Buffy and Warren arrive in time to save his girlfriend. Warren tells April that he does not love her and she attacks Buffy. The fight ends when April's battery's run low. Buffy ends up getting advice about love from a robot.
Buffy leaves a message on Ben/Glory's answering machine, postponing the coffee date, which Glory hears instead of Ben. Spike goes to Warren and orders him to make a robot Buffy. Buffy gets home to find Joyce, apparently, dead or unconscious on the sofa.
