Xander and Anya are talking about Buffy, wondering how she is coping now Riley has left...Buffy is in a Nunnery. She kills a vampire then starts talking to a Nun about what being a Nun is like.
Giles is going to England to speak to the Watcher's Council for help researching Glory and the Key, but Buffy does not trust them with information that could endanger Dawn. Anya and Willow argue about who is needed to run the magic shop.
Joyce is feeling better after the operation. Dawn talks to Buffy about Riley and Buffy is still hopeful that he will come back. Spike is practising, with a mannequin, telling Buffy that he loves her.
Anya and Willow are still arguing and both try and get Xander to support them. Rather than get dragged into it Xander leaves the shop, as does Tara. Their argument ends in Willow's sunlight spell going wrong and summoning a troll which promptly trashes the magic shop and leaves.
When Buffy hears about the argument she overreacts, she is not handing Riley's departure well. Anya and Willow chase the Demon in Giles' car, but Anya's driving is likely to kill them both before they find it. Xander meets Spike in a bar and they end up talking. Buffy and Tara arrive at the magic shop only to find it empty and trashed.
The troll arrives at the bar demanding beer to drink and babies to eat. Anya, Willow, Buffy and Tara arrive just after him. It turns out that Anya used to date the troll, before he was a troll, and he cheated on her. So she turned him into a troll and got her job as a vengeance demon. The ensuing fight destroys most of the bar.
While Anya and Willow are looking for a spell to stop the troll, the troll arrives at the magic shop. Xander tries, and fails, to fight him. The troll is impressed with Xander's courage and offers him a reward, he can choose either Willow or Anya to live - the other will die. Xander refuses to choose, so he will be the one to die. Buffy arrives to fight the troll, Anya annoys him to distract him from the fight while Willow casts a spell to send him to another dimension. Anya and Willow appear to have worked out their differences.
Giles arrives back without any new information and Dawn overhears Buffy say that she, Dawn, is the Key.
