S7-13 The Killer in Me

Top level Episode Guide Buffy Buffy Season 7

Author:   Publishing date: 06.05.2003 00:01

Giles is taking the PS's on a camping trip into the desert for training, but is worried about leaving the others behind. Kennedy is staying behind as she has flu.

Molly and Rona are arguing about who gets to drive first - as Giles did not renew his California driving licence. [Ed: He does not need a California driving licence to be able to drive in the USA. He would only need his UK licence.] Giles leaves quickly to stop the argument.

Buffy goes to the basement to see Spike. They are both glad the PS's will be away for 2 days so that they can have some peace and quiet in the house. As they are talking, Spike's chip malfunctions causing him pain for no reason.

Buffy talks to Willow in the kitchen. Willow is making tea for her patient and Buffy, subtly, suggests that something is going on between Willow and Kennedy. Willow claims that the tea is just tea. Willow was never able to find any details about the Initiative's chip - as secret government agencies don't tend to build websites publishing details of their top-secret projects.

Willow takes Kennedy the tea and finds her dressed and well. She was never sick. She tells Willow that she has her own mission and needs Willow's help - she takes Willow to the bronze. Willow goes to leave and Kennedy gets her to stay by telling her that she is sexy when she pouts. Kennedy asks Willow how long she has known that she was gay. After some initial wariness, Willow begins to talk to Kennedy about Tara and her life.

Buffy is looking after Spike, who's chip is still malfunctioning. Spike is sceptical about the gang's ability to find any useful information and they realise that outside help is needed. Buffy tries to call Riley for help, but ends up talking to what appears to be a real florist's shop. Spike has another attack.

Kennedy talks to Willow about her life and why she likes her. They go back to the house, to their bedroom. They kiss... and Willow changes into Warren. Willow does not know what has happened until she looks in the mirror.

Willow/Warren goes downstairs and the gang all think that she is the first, even Kennedy is not certain. Buffy hits Willow/Warren and knocks her down. Andrew grabs Willow/Warren's chest from behind. Buffy and Andrew both realise that Willow/Warren is corporeal and, therefore, not the first. They all want to help her, but Willow/Warren thinks that she did this to herself and insists on fixing it herself. She leaves. Meanwhile, Spike's chip went off again and he collapsed.

Kennedy follows Willow/Warren, who tells her to go home. Willow/Warren has already tried, and failed, to reverse the effect herself. But, she doesn't want to accept help as she was the one who killed Warren. Kennedy insists on going with Willow/Warren and Willow/Warren, reluctantly, agrees.

Buffy and Spike head back to the Initiative to get some drugs to help ease Spike's pain.

Back at the house, the rest of the gang get a phone call from Robson, the man who was attacked by the Bringers at the end of S7-08 Sleeper. Xander relays what Robson told him: That he passed out as the Bringer was about to slice Giles' head open with an axe and that when he regained consciousness, Giles had gone.

They begin to wonder if Giles is dead and The First has been impersonating him. Andrew points out that The First can't take corporeal form and can't touch anything. None of them can remember Giles touching or holding anything since he returned. They leave to find Giles and the PS's.

Willow/Warren and Kennedy find some witches that Willow knew from college. Amy is there and attempts to help Willow/Warren restore her own image. The spell fails and Willow/Warren slaps Amy. Willow/Warren says that she did not do it, that Warren did. Willow/Warren is angry that she is turning into Warren. She leaves, preventing Kennedy from following with a force field.

Buffy and Spike enter the Initiative and find the decaying remains of demons that were simply left behind when it was abandoned. In the dark, with only torchlight, they are heading toward the laboratories, to find the drug, when they find that the facility is not completely abandoned.

Xander, Anya, Dawn and Andrew are nervously driving to the campsite, wondering what they will find there if Giles is The First.

Willow/Warren, crying alone in an alley, becomes more like Warren.

Buffy and Spike, hearing noises, speculate that a demon survived. Buffy is attacked.

Kennedy returns to talk to Amy. Amy makes a mistake and refers to Kennedy as a PS. Kennedy wants to know how Amy knows who she is.

Buffy and Spike are fighting the demon when Spike's chip goes off. Spike is dragged off.

Willow/Warren goes to buy a gun.

The gang arrive at the campsite and jump on Giles, touching him to prove that he is corporeal. He, understandably, asks for an explanation. They only half explain and Giles wants to know why they think he is evil for "taking a bunch of girls on a camping trip and not touching them".

Buffy searches for Spike and is attacked again. She kills the demon and finds Spike. The lights turn on and soldiers are all around them. Buffy's message to Riley did get through. He sent the soldiers to help them.

The doctors examine Spike's chip and it is faulty. They can either repair it or remove it. Riley instructed them to leave the decision to Buffy.

Kennedy gets Amy to admit to putting a hex on Willow. The hex "lets" Willow's sub-conscious choose the form of her punishment. Amy, somewhat obviously, refuses to remove the hex when Kennedy asks her to. Amy is jealous of "cute, sweet Willow", who has so much power and whom everyone still loves even though she almost destroyed the world. Kennedy tells Amy that she is going to stop her. Amy sends Kennedy to the garden - where Buffy was standing when Warren shot her in S6-19 Seeing Red.

Kennedy and Willow Willow/Warren arrives and begins to act out the final scenes from S6-19 Seeing Red. Kennedy tries to talk to Willow and Willow/Warren gets confused between who Willow and Warren killed. Willow/Warren is upset that by kissing Kennedy, she admitted that Tara was really dead.

Kennedy claims to be learning to understand magic - "it's just like fairy tales" - she kisses the "prince" (Warren) and Willow/Warren changes back to Willow. Kennedy declares: "I am good".
